Has the number of new infections actually doubled a week after the lockdown started to loosen? The Federal Office of Public Health reported 98 new infections on Saturday morning – almost twice as much as the day before.

Wrong laboratory numbers were to blame

The fault was not caused by a paper jam in the fax machine. “We got the wrong numbers from a laboratory,” says a spokesman for the BAG to BLICK. How it could happen is unclear.

30,572 laboratory confirmed cases
The BAG announced 51 newly registered cases on Friday, 50 on Thursday and between 30 and 40 within a day since Monday.
