Association warns against isolation of Ukrainian children

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The Baden-Württemberg Education and Training Association has warned against isolating children who have fled from Ukraine in schools. You have to make sure as soon as possible that they also get in contact with other children, said association spokesman Michael Gomolzig. The schools in the southwest have so far admitted thousands of children to the lessons, as the Ministry of Education announced.

During a visit to the Ameisenberg School in Stuttgart today (8.15 a.m.), Minister Theresa Schopper (Greens) wants to get an impression of how the facility integrates children from Ukraine. According to the ministry, several refugee children are already being taught there in preparatory classes. In these classes, the pupils should first learn German in order to then switch to regular classes.

A few days ago, the Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) announced in the state parliament that he wanted to increase the number of more than 2,000 preparatory classes at general and vocational schools in order to do as much justice as possible to children and young people from Ukraine.
