Cohesion and friendship – that couldn’t be more important at the moment. And that is exactly what the new series “You don’t die with friends” is about. It was produced by Christina Christ from Bad Nauheim. With a top-class cast. The series can now be seen on the TVNOW streaming service. Then from next year on VOX.

In the four-part mini-series, Walter Sittler plays a corpse. His four friends – played by Adele Neuhauser, Michael Wittenborn, Heiner Lauterbach and Iris Berben – have their hands full with the dead. Because Hermann (Sittler) should get the Nobel Prize. And since this is only given to the living, his friends have to cover up death so that Hermann can finally get his honor.

Cohesion runs through the entire series: Actors and everyone else involved have particularly stuck together in times of Corona. When filming was supposed to start at the beginning of April, everything turned out differently – as is well known.

Shooting as a challenge

“All the actors and almost the entire team have stayed with us” “, says producer Christ. That is not a matter of course with these top-class actors. Everyone has changed their schedules and times for exactly this series and a later point in time to shoot The film was shot in and around Cologne. The pandemic presented everyone with greater challenges than usual: The filming can only be done with regular testing of the team and actors and with prescribed quarantine. But everything worked out. The result was a four-part Mini-series: Each of the four episodes lasts 45 minutes and is each dedicated to one of the four characters in the series. The episodes are named after the characters.

For Christina Christ, the project was also a great challenge. After starting at the company, it was her first project and under Corona conditions it was even more difficult.

For two years she has been heading the then newly founded unit “Keshet Tresor Fiction”. High quality films and series are produced here. On the one hand from in-house developments, on the other hand from adaptations, such as “You don’t die with friends”.

The model is the Israeli series “Stockholm”. Screenwriter Claudius Pläging (known among other things from the film “The First Name”) has adapted the story. The structure and the basic story remained similar, he shaped and recreated characters or dialogues accordingly.

“Keshet” is the largest private television broadcaster in Israel. Therefore, the German branch has exclusive access rights to various television formats from the parent company.

Death is the theme in the series. “The story is told with a balance of profound wit and emotion,” says Christ.

As she says of herself, she has always had a great passion for television. “I wanted to make television and entertain people.” That’s exactly what she did and achieved. After graduating from the St. Lioba School in Bad Nauheim, she did an apprenticeship at RTL2 in Munich as a clerk for audiovisual media. “Learned the tools of the trade,” she says.

Afterwards she studied production and media management at the University of Television and Film Munich and after graduating she worked as a producer at Bavaria before the job offer from Keshet Tresor Fiction came.

Christina Christ lives in Munich. Your mother in Bad Nauheim. She comes back to the Wetterau regularly. “My little daughter is always looking forward to her grandma.”
