The Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina, spoke to Rai Radio 1 during the broadcast “Radio Anch’Io”.
Several topics covered: “The mask is essential where there is no distance. The CTS had already written it on 7 July. But we are working on distancing and will continue to do so. There are European countries that say: if you don’t have the distance, just put the mask on. We are doing more: we are working to guarantee distancing for everyone ”.

On the spaces, however: “A lot has been done, but further commitment is needed by local authorities, which own the buildings. They have the commissioner powers to speed up the work, the resources for the light school construction. And in August we gave additional resources for rents ”.
Then he specifies: “The goal is not just to reopen schools, but to ensure that they don’t close again. All the pieces are falling into place. The Guidelines ready from the end of June, safety protocol, supplies of gels, benches, masks, 100 thousand permanent hires and at least another 50 thousand on a fixed-term basis for the emergency. It’s a huge, gigantic job ”.
On the benches, however, he states: “We have achieved an important result in a very short time. They had said that the tender would be deserted, instead 2.4 million stalls will arrive in a country where no investments have ever been made in furnishings. There will also be 11 million masks a day, 50 thousand liters of sanitizing gel, rapid tests for school staff “.
Finally: “The school restarts in September, but the life of the Italians has already restarted. I’m jumping through hoops with the whole government and everyone who is working on reopening schools. I would very much like everyone to make the same effort, I expect to see responsibility. The effort for the good of the school must be for everyone ”.
