Baby with covid-19 left the HUM ICU

A 10-month-old baby left the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Maracaibo University Hospital (HUM), where he remained intubated and in a state of seriousness due to covid-19 for eight days.

According to the health center published on its Instagram account, on Sunday night, the boy Alejandro López was transferred to a room in hospitalization to continue with his treatment for his final recovery.

The HUM, the main sentinel center in Zulia state, also announced last week that it will implement the use of convalescent plasma as an alternative treatment for patients with moderate or severe symptoms of coronavirus, according to protocols from the Ministry of Health.

“We are going to make a hybrid, in the first stage the IHO (Western Hematology Institute) will be the plasma collecting organ, that is, it will attend to the donor, first due to their conditions and second to prevent the donor from accessing to hospital facilities; and the hospital will comply with the application of the collected plasma ”.
