Epidemiologist Explains the Florona Issue Called Has Arrived in Indonesia

ASKARA – The disease, which is a coinfection with the influenza and Covid-19 viruses, namely Florona, has been widely discussed.

Rumors of Florona came from a pregnant woman in Israel who had not been vaccinated recently.

Airlangga University (Unair) Epidemiologist Laura Nabila Yamani assessed that the issue had continuity with several recent symptoms.

“The symptoms of Covid-19 and influenza have similarities. This is just public panic responding to all possibilities,” said Laura, in a written statement, quoted on Friday (21/1).

It is said, the influenza virus contained in the Florona variant is a common thing for some humans, especially the people of Indonesia. For some countries having four seasons will find it unusual.

“The flu has become a common disease during the rainy season, so there is still no further examination related to the flu that coincides with Covid-19,” he explained.

Seasonal differences in some countries can be one of the causes of the coinfection. The reason is, Florona has similarities with Covid-19 in terms of transmission, namely through droplets.

The difference is, influenza is a disease that can occur through airborne transmission and when the seasons change.

This is in the spotlight because people rarely get influenza, especially in a country with four seasons.

In some countries, there are even special vaccines to treat the disease to minimize similar symptoms.

The lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health at Airlangga University assessed that it was unlikely that Florona would come to Indonesia because the flu had become a congenital disease that was considered normal. If there is, it must be considered Covid-19 or ordinary influenza.

“The two have so much in common that one assumes someone will only get hit by one of them. For example, the symptoms of Covid-18 have a mild flu in it,” he explained.

The comparative explanation of the dangers of Florona and Corona will be more or less the same, depending on how the individual will cope with the situation.

“If you want to keep Indonesia away from the Florona disease, you must apply 3M (maintaining distance, wearing masks, and washing hands). In addition, live a healthy lifestyle,” concluded Laura.(jpnn)
