César Azpilicueta officially extended his contract at Chelsea. This new contract also ends speculation about his future.
Azpilicueta has signed a two-year contract extension. He will stay at Stamford Bridge until 2024, which will end Barcelona’s recruitment efforts.
The 32-year-old is being chased by Barcelona this summer, whose contract is due to expire next year. Azpilicueta automatically triggered an active one-year contract extension clause in June.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel determined to keep him after losing Antonio Ruediger and Andreas Christensen. Azpilicueta’s experience is needed in the dressing room, as the Blues remain competitive after a change of ownership.
“I am very happy to be able to extend my time at Chelsea, my home. It has been almost 10 years since I first arrived and joined the club, so I really feel in love here and very excited for the new project we are building,” said Azpilicueta, quoted by Sky Sports.
“I want to thank (Chelsea owners) Todd (Boehly) and Behdad (Eghbali) for giving me the opportunity to continue my journey at this amazing club and I can’t wait to continue our adventure.”
