The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillofwill seek to approve on Thursday in the Buenos Aires Legislature a project to create the “Buenos Aires health emergency company” and the “Buenos Aires Pharmaceutical Industry Center”two joint stock companies with majority state participation that aim to deepen the integration of the health system.

The initiatives were included in a project sent last Friday by the Executive Branch to the chambers in which it also seeks to extend the current state of emergency in various areas such as security, health and education, and requests authorization for debt for the equivalent in pesos of US$ 1.8 billion to meet next year’s debt services.

As the Minister of Health explained in statements made to Télam, Nicolás Kreplakthese are “key tools to deepen the integration of the health system.”
The official indicated that “for months” they have been working on these projects that, he said, “the current context makes them more important.”

Kreplak explained that it is projected that “both initiatives will be established under the Public Limited Company model with majority state participation, which means that the province will have control.”

Regarding the Center for the Buenos Aires pharmaceutical industry, he specified that “it seeks to found a public laboratory, that is, to enter the market, produce, market and distribute medicines, vaccines and supplies with values ​​well below the market, gaining sovereignty and generating work.” .

“We know that these are big problems that each district and each locality has. We have the project and we know how to contribute to that solution. We hope that our legislators can turn them into law so that we can immediately work to make them concrete,” she concluded.

In the proposals, to which Télam had access, it is specified that the “Bonaerense Pharmaceutical Industry Center”, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, will have the objective of “carrying out research, development, production, packaging, fractionation, the transformation, completion, import and/or export, purchase, sale and wholesale and/or retail distribution as well as quality control of all types of medicines, vaccines, supplies, medical products, equipment, ingredients active pharmaceuticals, primary and secondary standards for production quality control, medical dental supplies, health products and any other input necessary for health.”

Also, it will be dedicated “to the physicochemical and microbiological quality control of food and water, the exploitation of invention patents, licenses, formulas and national or foreign brands, representation, mandate, commission and consignment activities, import and export, as well as all other activities aimed at strengthening the technological, scientific, productive and innovation development of society itself, as well as the public and private sector of the province of Buenos Aires.”

The proposal sent to the Legislature seeks to create the “Buenos Aires Health Emergency Company”, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, with the aim of “providing the health emergency service that will include health care in the event of emergencies or emergencies.”
