After the brilliant away win in Weißwasser on Tuesday, the next home game against EHC Freiburg was on the program for the Heilbronner Falken. With returning Jeremy Williams, the Falken start the game more actively, but the first goal should only fall in the tenth minute of the game, when Justin Kirsch scored his 108th competitive goal for the Falken. But the guests from the Breisgau managed to equalize in three minutes by Christoph Kiefersauer with their first dangerous action. As a result, the game was balanced, but Karl Fabricius kept track in the 19th minute of the game and was able to achieve the 2-1 lead for the Falken. With this intermediate result, the first break should also go.
In the middle third, the falcons were initially outnumbered, but they were able to survive without damage. Nevertheless, too many penalties were drawn in this phase, so that the guests equalized in the 30th minute. After that, the falcons were no longer so ordered in their building game, so that the wolves found their way into the game better. The opening goal by Philipp Feist in the 34th minute was the logical consequence. Just three minutes later, David Makuzki even scored the fourth goal for the guests. Unfortunately, the falcons did not succeed in consistently playing their game in this phase, so that the wolves were left the field recklessly. An outnumbered situation shortly before the end of the third remained unused, so that this score should go into the last break.
In the final third, the Falcons threw everything forward again and in the 41st minute of the game, Karl Fabricius was able to deflect a shot perfectly and bring the Falcons back within striking distance to 3: 4. As a result, the Falcons unfortunately did not manage to be in the middle thirds enough, so that they could not equalize despite the initial pressure phase. So the Wolves were able to restore the old two-goal lead in the 50th minute of play through Marvin Näher. When Nikolas Linsenmaier made it 3: 6 in the 57th minute of the game, the game was decided in favor of the guests.
So it remained with an annoying 3: 6 home defeat. The Falcons couldn’t play their game consistently enough on that day and had to accept too many penalty minutes, which were ultimately decisive for the game. It will continue on Sunday when the falcons will make a guest appearance at the Kassel Huskies.
