Between September 25 and October 1, an average of 2,103.3 new corona infections were confirmed daily in Belgium, according to provisional figures from health institute Sciensano. That is 32 percent more than in the previous 7-day period.

The number of samples remained stable and 6.7 percent of all tests turned out to be positive, so that the positivity ratio is still on the rise. A week earlier, 5.8 percent tested positive. Altogether, 130,235 people have tested positive for covid-19 since the start of the pandemic in our country.
About 10,064 people have succumbed to the virus in Belgium. Between September 25 and October 1, an average of 9.4 people died from the virus every day.
In the last week, an average of more than 77 new patients were admitted to the hospitals every day, 13.3 more than a week earlier. According to the most recent figures, 866 beds have been occupied by covid patients, 186 of whom require intensive care.
