Auxillium: Styrian doctors help our Ukrainian neighbors in need

Graz (OTS) On the occasion of the large wave of refugees from the Ukraine and the terrible living conditions in the war zone, the two general practitioners Dr. Kristina Koeppel-Klepp and Dr. Neshat Quitt to help quickly and unbureaucratically.

At first it was only about the medical first aid for the suffering civilians. Very quickly, however, it became clear that the affected medical care facilities should be supplied directly with the necessary medicines and bandages, or to help the refugees on site to find decent housing and to support them in their job search.

This gave rise to the idea of founding a voluntary association, “Auxilium – We help people”. Doris Dissauer and the organic farm Aschacher joined as members. As a result, a close cooperation developed with Karl Großschädel, who organizes the transport directly to Poland and coordinates a transfer point from which the medicines can be transported to the respective hospitals in the Ukraine.

Our association is in constant contact with the Ukrainian aid organization “International Charitable Foundation” and in direct contact with the colleagues from the local hospitals. At the moment it is mainly people with chronic illnesses who are dying unnecessarily because vital medical care can no longer be guaranteed – not to mention the war injuries.

“Only those who help quickly help twice,” said Dr. Michael Sacherer, chairman of the Association of Styrian Doctors, and together with KAGes, the largest Styrian hospital operator, organized a delivery of vital medicines and infusions to Dr. Boris Todurov to the Kyiv hospital. Thanks to close cooperation between the Chamber of Pharmacists and the Styrian Malteser Hospital Service, it was possible to use the incoming donations to organize another transport of medicines, bandages and infusions to Chernihiv.

Our association stands for helpfulness, integration and support, our activities and projects provide support on site where help is needed. All donations to the association are forwarded 100%, there are no fees or organizational costs.
