The flower lover Zdeněk did not miss the autumn Flora again this time. She came to Olomouc from Hranicko. In recent years, she has not missed any flower exhibition that is taking place at the local fairgrounds. In Pavilion A, she was fascinated by a large tree richly decorated with white inflatable balloons and complemented by colorful lighting.

“The main exhibition is really beautiful, we really like it. There are beautiful arrangements, everything is beautifully coordinated. There is a lot of work behind it, the people from the fairgrounds are very handy. I can’t even imagine that Flora wouldn’t be in Olomouc. It’s something that just belongs to her over the years. We missed Spring Flora very much this year, “the visitor confided.

Vlaďek’s friend visited the main exhibition with her and she was also excited about it.

“It’s great. One doesn’t even know what to look at first. It is again something new and modern. Trends in exhibitions are constantly changing, but Olomouc florists keep up with them. We are always very much looking forward to it and we always leave satisfied. Even the coronavirus will not stop us, we will enjoy the autumn Flora with the veils, just as we enjoyed the summer one. We will gain inspiration and buy some new flowers, “the visitor planned.

Polished apples assembled into colorful patterns attracted the attention of gardener Vlastimil Dovrtel, who came to Olomouc from Mohelnice.

“I admire beautiful sprouts, especially fruits and vegetables. I also choose new varieties of trees to plant in the garden. I’ll definitely buy an apricot here. I have been going to Flora for many years and I always take my wife with me. This time she stayed at home, she was afraid of a possible infection, but I’m not afraid right here. People in pavilions wear drapes and disinfection is used everywhere, there is nothing to be afraid of, “says Vlastimil Dovrtěl.

Gastronomy festival

In addition to the main exposition, visitors to the ground floor of pavilion A can admire the exposition of the Czech Horticultural Association or visit the exhibition of mushrooms and the mycological clinic.

The exhibition Bearer of the Traditions of Folk Crafts and interesting workshops and lectures await them in the orangery.

Very untraditional is the exposition of the experimental exhibition From Another World in Pavilion H, which brings the flora from another world and shows what plants would look like on the alternative planet Earth.

Lovers of good food and drink will enjoy themselves at the traditional OLIMA gastronomy festival.

The organizers invite you to the Moravian Confectionery Championship, a cooking show with famous chefs and there will also be the announcement of the Grand Prix of fruit spirits and spirits Flora Košt or the competition of amateurs and professionals in cooking Flora Jam.

The accompanying program offers music performances, fun activities for children and grandma’s backyard with pets. On the Samba stage, you can see pumpkins from the Pumpkin Digging 2020 competition.

Veils and counting

Visitors must have drapes when entering the pavilions, the organizers have prepared a sufficient amount of hand disinfection and regularly disinfect all toilets, restaurant facilities and gastronomic zones. Expositions and stands are arranged so that a spacing of at least two meters is observed.

At most cash registers, it is now possible to pay with a contactless payment card. The organizers recommend using the purchase of tickets online to avoid creating queues at the box office. The number of visitors in Hall A is regulated by cameras, and inspections of the wearing of veils indoors are also carried out.

The transport company will strengthen the trams during the exhibition
The Transport Company of the City of Olomouc prepared in advance for the onslaught of passengers heading to the exhibition grounds. On Thursdays and Fridays, a tram set will be sent at 8 and 9 am, which will run as a reinforcement connection on line number 1 to the final stop in Nová Ulice. On Saturday and Sunday, coupled sets will be deployed on the line marked X4. In the afternoon, according to current transport needs, they will be exchanged for solo cars.
