Austin Mass Shooting suspect De’ondre Jermirris White is said to be ‘armed and dangerous’

Austin Police identified 19-year-old De’Ondre Jermirris White as the third suspect in the recent mass shootings in Texas.

During a news conference on Tuesday, Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said, “A third warrant was issued last night for the shooting against De’Ondre Jermirris White. He is a black man who was born on January 23, 2002 …. This warrant is for murder on $ 1 million bail. “

“Mr. White is currently in office. He is not in custody …. This person is considered armed and dangerous and is now a refugee, “said Chacon.” And we ask that if you see him, do not try to do anything or put yourself in danger. Call the police.”

Chacon continued, “Our investigation has revealed that White was responsible for the murder of Mr. Douglas Kantor and the shooting of many, if not all, of our shooting victims,” adding that “witness interviews, ballistic evidence, video evidence and the suspect’s positions” were police helped with their investigation.

The Austin Police Department’s announcement on Tuesday came a few days after the June 12 mass shooting at 400 block on E. 6th Street, police said the officers were dispatched to the area on June 12 at around 1:24 p.m. local time after several shots had been fired at a crowd.

According to police, 15 victims suffered gunshot wounds and 13 were in stable condition; another victim, who was not identified, remains in critical condition while another victim, identified by police as a cantor, died of his injuries .

During Tuesday’s press conference, Chacon stated that the police had learned from the investigation that there was a confrontation between two groups of teenagers that led to the mass shootings.

Police had previously arrested an unidentified youth who was charged with fatal behavior and a 17-year-old who was identified as Jeremiah Roshawn Leland JamesTabb, who was charged with aggravated assault.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Travis District Attorney José Garza announced that prosecutors were dropping charges against the unidentified youth and Tabb.

“At this point in the investigation, it is in the best interest to reject these allegations and to ensure that we are able to bring the best possible case as we focus on the person primarily responsible for the injuries and death on 6th Street, ”said Garza.
