The Austrian airline AUA supplements existing travel insurance with a special corona insurance.
When can we finally travel again as we were used to? That will take a while, because the corona pandemic is still putting a spanner in the works of travelers. The travel industry is badly affected economically, especially since with the second lockdown in November all hotels in Austria will remain closed to tourists (but not to business travelers).
The Austrian Airlines (AUA) has now announced an expansion of the existing travel insurance for customers to include a special corona insurance. The previously available insurance packages from AIG now also include benefits in the event of Covid-19. Specifically, there are 2 packages to choose from, which can be booked for AUA, Lufthansa and Swiss passengers who live in one of the three countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland:
- With “Travel Care” passengers receive a compensation payment if they have to go into quarantine at their destination due to an infection with the corona virus. There is also travel cancellation and interruption insurance.
- With “Travel Care Plus” there is also compensation for medical costs for care in the course of a corona illness; Return transport is also covered.
According to the AUA, these insurance packages allow more security for travelers. Apart from the new Corona insurance, the Austrian airline offers more flexible options for rebooking and has abolished the rebooking fee.
