Attention drivers! Repair works have started on the highway near Pļaviņas – in Latvia

On the road Pļaviņas (Gostiņi) -Madona-Gulbene (P37), the reconstruction of the pavement has started in the section from the rotation circle at the intersection of Daugavpils highway (A6) near Pļaviņas to the settlement Aiviekste, informs SJSC “Latvijas valsts ceļi” Communication Department.

There is one traffic light section and a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour, so an additional part of less than half an hour is required to leave the section.

It is planned to rebuild the road surface – in most cases up to and including the crushed stone layer, but in some places, also replacing the drainage layer. The whole section is covered with three layers of asphalt. Of the three bridges over Veseta, two will be rebuilt and one will be rebuilt. Instead of one bridge to be rebuilt, an 11-meter-wide and six-meter-high culvert will be built, while the renewable bridge will be demolished to the beams.

The construction works are performed by SIA “8 CBR” for a contract price of 6.7 million euros, which is covered from the state budget in addition to the allocated 75 million euros. These works will be completed next year.

These costs include the renovation of pavements on the Ķekava-Skaistkalne motorway (P89) in the section from Strazdiņi to the intersection with the Mežvidi-Baldone motorway (P91). It is planned to complete the construction works at both construction sites by October.

Reconstruction of the bridge over Virbupe in Kandava region has started this week on the road Līga-Kandava-Veģi (P130). The bridge approaches a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour and traffic across the bridge is organized with the help of traffic lights and a bandwidth of 3.4 meters. The construction works envisage the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge. A temporary bypass and bridge are being built.

The construction works are performed by SIA Būvinženieris for a contract price of 410,000 euros, which is covered from the state budget in addition to the allocated 75 million euros. The reconstruction of the bridge is planned to be completed next year.
