Attack of color: threatening signs on the Hamburg mosque

The “Blue Mosque” on the Alster does not come to rest. The Islamic Center in Hamburg-Uhlenhorst has long been the focus of the protection of the constitution. Now strangers smeared the building, officially called Imam Ali Mosque, with red paint on Saturday night and left letters that sounded threatening.

As the MOPO police confirmed, an employee of the mosque discovered extensive deficiencies on the building at the beautiful prospect during his tour around 0.48 a.m. Parts of the outer facade were smeared with red spots of paint. Characters had been sprayed on the stairs leading to the entrance.

Apparently the attack on the “Blue Mosque” is connected to these protests. The state security has taken over the investigation.

The officials have been investigating the place of faith for a long time. Current Iranian documents available to the State Office show that IZH director Mohammad Hadi Mofatteh is bound by instructions to the Iranian regime, said the authority’s spokesman, Marco Haase.
