O Atlético-MG is one victory away from winning a place in the group stage of the 2023 Copa Libertadores. After eliminating Carabobo, they face Millonarios this Wednesday, at 21:30, in Mineirão. The classification will earn the Rooster R$ 21 million accumulated in Conmebol prizes (see the list below).

The club from Minas Gerais has already secured US$ 1.1 million (R$ 5.5 million) for having been present in two of the three phases of the so-called “Preliminary” of the Libertadores. The group stage pays an additional US$ 3 million (R$ 15.4 million) to each team. Plus, there’s a bonus: $300,000 per win.
The group stage draw will take place in March, 27 th. The winner of Galo x Millonarios enters as “G1”, and can fall into a bracket with a team from the same country.
If Atlético does not manage to pass the level in the Libertadores, it will compete in the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana, which will award BRL 5 million to participants.
That is, in the best scenario for Galo, the club guarantees R$ 21 million in Libertadores if Millonarios wins, being able to earn up to R$ 9 million in the victory bonus – potential of BRL 30 million.
In the worst case scenario, the club will go to Sul-Americana, and earn another R$ 5 million, in addition to fighting for a bonus of US$ 100,000 for each victory in the group stage. There is another immediate impact of international games on Atlético’s coffers, which is a full house at the Mineirão, and ticket sales.
Against Carabobo, on the way back from the Phase 2 game, at home, Galo made a profit of R$ 1.5 million. There were five home games, so far, in the 2023 season, and the club has a net income of R$ 2,311,838.90 from ticket sales.
