Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov

The Rector of Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov acquainted the members of the General Assembly with his motives to run for President of the Republic of Bulgaria at today’s meeting. He expressed readiness to resign immediately if the General Assembly considers that his candidacy has negatively affected Sofia University. The members of the General Assembly supported the rector and expressed a common opinion that he should continue his term. This was announced by Alma Mater.
The General Assembly of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”was held in accordance with the anti-epidemic measures in online format. The meeting of the supreme collective body of the university was attended by 336 registered participants.
The meeting was held with the following agenda:
Sofia University

Changes in the composition of the committees of the General Assembly;
Annual report of the Rector on the condition of the University;
Annual report on the activity of the Control Board;
Annual report of the University Public Advocate;
Filling in the composition of the Academic Council.
After the vote, the item on the preliminary agenda for changes and additions to the Rules of Procedure of Sofia University was postponed to the next meeting of the General Assembly.
The General Assembly adopted the annual reports of the Rector, the Supervisory Board and the University Public Advocate. In the coming days, the members of the General Assembly will hold a secret election to fill the composition of the Academic Council of Sofia University from the student quota.
