In the music and drama room “Oratorio” on October 30 at 7 pm, the premiere of actress and director Rēzija Kalniņa’s American author Sean Grenan’s play “Now and Then” will be announced, the representative of the creative team Agnese Tauriņa informed.
Tauriņa said that Kalniņa had previously staged two Grenan plays – “Make God Laugh” and “Tin Woman”, which were shown at the Daile Theater. The American author’s play “Now and Then” is a story about human will, choices and love through the years, pondering the question of what determines our destiny.
Actors Esmeralda Ermale, Jana Herbsta or Ilze Trukšāne, Raimonds Celms or Maksims Busels, Jānis Skanis or Juris Kalniņš will play the role in the production. The costumes and scenography were created by the creative group “Oratorio”. The play was translated from English by Voldemārs Rode.
Kalniņa graduated from the Faculty of Theater and Film Actors of the Latvian State Conservatory, later continued her education at the Department of Directing. She has received various awards for her participation in performances at the Daile Theater, films and television productions. She has performed and performed at the Dzintari Concert Hall, the Mikhail Chekhov Russian Theater, the Latvian National Theater, the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, the Daile Theater and the Latvian Puppet Theater. In 2014, Kalnins was nominated for a Golden Mask Award for the production of the American composer Leonard Bernstein’s “Mesa”.
