For them, the next world, the one following the Covid crisis, must be a world on a bike! A new collective of residents of Sucy is offering this Sunday “SolutionS Vélo”, a meeting for neophytes. All those who would like to get started but still have too many questions about the daily use of non-motorized two-wheelers are welcome. On the program: bike repair, discovery of the Sucy cycle paths and its surroundings on a map, tips to encourage daily use of the bike, presentation of the Energy Air Health Charter and many other stands… All set up on the square of the market, to reach a maximum of inhabitants.
“We set up the event in just three weeks, we told ourselves that we really had to collectively change habits from the time of the deconfinement” specify the members of the collective, mostly from other Sucy associations.
Tips for repairing your bicycle
This Sunday, they will offer advice on how to repair your bike yourself, by appointment for health reasons. “Our repair workshop Sucy Environment and Transition, which was open two Saturdays per month, sees the number of requests explode”, welcomes Frédéric Brand, the “technical” gentleman of the collective, who also likes to participate in the Repair Café or lead workshops repair of wooden objects. Cyclo Thomas, a small home bicycle repair company, will also be present and will meet residents for more substantial work to be carried out. The repairer is approved to provide volunteers with the € 50 bicycle boost from the government.

“This first meeting aims to be as concrete as possible, we will answer the questions posed by all those who want to get on the bike,” promises Catherine Paoletti, also a member of Sucy en Transition. She, who is a prevention doctor, will promote the benefits of cycling for the body and will be able to share her experience of electric bikes. “Many of us in Sucy go to work in Créteil, but with a good electric bike it is entirely feasible. »Rain gear, bag to not support a backpack, first aid kit, lights and vest to be visible especially in winter: everything you need for a bike can also be recommended.
“Comparing to the price of gasoline or repairing a car is much more economical,” insists Gwennoline Le Fur, one of the founding members of the collective, who has been so involved in recent weeks that ‘she is going on holiday to Brittany this summer… by bike!
