The 6.1-magnitude earthquake on the open Richter scale that struck southwestern China on Wednesday has caused at least four deaths and 14 injuries according to preliminary reports, as search and rescue efforts continue.
The earthquake occurred at 5:00 p.m. local time yesterday (9:00 GMT) at a depth of 17 kilometers in Lushan county belonging to the city of Ya’an, located in Sichuan province (southwest).
