At 200 km / h through Zeithain

Deutsche Bahn (DB) is building a high-speed line between Dresden-Riesa-Leipzig. Passengers sometimes have to plan 30 to 60 minutes longer travel times. For the Riesa commuters, it is particularly important that there are also extensive changes in regional traffic. The changed travel times are already taken into account in the information systems. Deutsche Bahn has prepared a replacement transport concept.

Expansion in the Zeithain – Leckwitz section from March to April 23

Between Zeithain and Leckwitz, the DB is expanding the Dresden – Leipzig line for speeds of up to 200 km / h and is converting to modern interlocking technology. The current construction work serves to ensure that a track can be used in both directions for further expansion. Then the train traffic between Leipzig and Dresden can continue despite construction work. This requires the route to be closed from March 1 to April 16 and April 19 to 21, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are all-day closures from April 17th to 18th and from April 21st to 23rd. The ICE connection between Frankfurt / Main and Dresden then ends in Leipzig. The IC connection Cologne – Hanover – Magdeburg – Dresden will be diverted between Riesa and Dresden. The travel time between Leipzig and Dresden is increased by around 30 minutes, in the opposite direction the trains in Dresden depart up to 30 minutes earlier. There are two-hour long-distance connections between Leipzig and Dresden instead of the hourly long-distance connections.

The trains on line RE 50 (Leipzig – Riesa – Dresden) will be diverted between Riesa and Dresden-Neustadt (without stops on the way). This increases the travel time between Dresden and Leipzig by 8 to 16 minutes. Between Riesa (connection RE 50) and Großenhain Cottb. Bf (connection RE 15 / RE 18) runs a replacement bus with shuttle service.

For travelers with destination Dresden there is a possibility to transfer to the IC trains coming from Hanover / Magdeburg in Leipzig. In addition, ICE shuttle trains run between Leipzig and Dresden Monday to Friday before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m. and on weekends. Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., these trains are canceled due to the above-mentioned closure between Leckwitz and Zeithain.
