Asturias issues 20,000 COVID certificates in three weeks | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

The Ministry of Health has issued 19,957 EU covid digital certificates since the tool to request it through the website of Astursalud. Of these, 7,859 people (40%) have downloaded it directly, after enabling it to be obtained online on June 21, a system recommended by health authorities as the fastest alternative to obtain the document.

The rest of the paper documents have been delivered, upon request for an appointment, to the User Attention Services located in the eight hospitals in the eight health areas and at the Asturias Citizen Service Offices in Oviedo, Gijón Y Aviles.

This certificate, which comes into force tomorrow, July 1, is not necessary to move through the national territory or other non-EU countries. It is also not mandatory to travel to the EU, although some member states may claim it or request other additional measures, such as quarantines or diagnostic tests to European citizens who do not have it.

Both the document issued in digital format and on paper, is in Spanish and English, and includes a QR code that allows its verification in ports and airports and prevents possible falsifications. Traditional readers are not enabled to read it.

Certificates to travel to the EU

The Ministry of Health issues three types of certificates: that of vaccination, with a validity of one year; the recovery from the disease, whose validity extends between 11 and 180 days from the result of a positive PCR, and a third on negative diagnostic tests, which can be requested from tomorrow. In this case, the document will be valid for 72 hours from the collection of the sample. People who need the certificate to travel to member countries of the European Union, can request it at Astursalud.
