Asturias begins to vaccinate those under 30 years of age | BE Gijón | Today for Today Morning Gijón

The Health Service of the Principality of Asturias (SESPA) has begun to vaccinate this Sunday to the youth age 29 and under, given the advance in the immunization of people between 30 and 39 years old. It was confirmed this Sunday by the Minister of Health of the Principality of Asturias Pablo Fernández after visiting the COVID point installed in the Los Canapés sports complex, in Avilés. Vaccine inoculation in this age group has already started in all health areas. Throughout this week, they hope to advance in the immunization of this group, one of the most affected by the rebound in cases this summer.

Regarding people aged 60 to 69 years vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca, Fernández Muñiz has indicated that they have already received the second dose on 75% of the collective. They hope in Health that in the next two weeks the guideline will be complete in the rest of the people of the age group.

Currently in Asturias 70% of the population is already vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least one dose, a positive result in the opinion of the counselor, although this does not imply that the vaccine is “infallible”. In this sense, the Health Minister has indicated that one in ten people with the full regimen may be affected by the disease.

That is why Fernández Muñiz considers it important to continue taking measures to stop the transmission of the virus, appealing to caution and strict compliance with sanitary regulations.
