Astronomers Discover Micronova, Most Powerful Star Explosion in Universe

INDOZONE.ID – Astronomers have discovered new star explosion called “Micronova”. The explosion is considered to be the most powerful thermonuclear explosion in the universe.

Micronoca is the weakest type of star assessed by scientists. The smaller energy is referred to as dwarf blast. This explosion is smaller than supernova what happens when a giant star is dying.

Reported Science Alert, micronovae are observed as bursts of light that last for about 10 hours. The first micronova is located 1,680 light years from Earth. Then the second is located 3,720 years and the last is located 4,900 light years.

One light year is the distance light travels in a year, which is 9.5 trillion kilometers. The discovery of the micronova was considered an unexpected surprise.

“This discovery was an unexpected surprise. It shows how dynamic the universe is. This event is fast and sporadic. To find it, you need to look at the right place at the right time,” said Simone Scaringi, an astronomer from Durham University in the UK.

White Dwarf

White dwarfs are some of the densest objects in the universe that emerge after the cores of dying stars disintegrate. White dwarfs are strange, because they have a mass similar to the Sun, but similar in diameter to Earth.

Micronovas usually occur in certain binary systems, where white dwarfs orbit other stars. For a micronova to occur, white dwarfs need a strong magnetic field and a normal, low-mass companion star.

Due to the white dwarf’s gravitational pull, the companion star continues to lose hydrogen. This hydrogen crosses the white dwarf’s magnetic poles somewhat similar to the process that causes auroras on Earth.
