AstraZeneca announces when the pandemic will end in a contract with Brazil

In the last bet from Fuori dal Coro spoke of a pandemic, secret vaccine contracts and a lack of transparency from pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca.

The pharmaceutical companies that Europe has relied on for the vaccine are: AstraZeneca, Sonofi GSK and Johnson & Johnson. 12 billion were donated to these for research to which the sum for the purchase of the necessary doses of the drug was added.

MEP Vincenzo Sofo said there are unclear contracts for these vaccines: “The health of European citizens is at stake and there is a totally dark negotiation that plays on the shoulders of the citizens.”

Despite the testing of vaccines on humans is underway, the time for distribution is tight and therefore a doubt arises: will they be really safe?

Silvio Garattini of the Mario Negri Institute said: “We need to know what the side effects are because we will administer the vaccine to healthy people.”

The agency Reuters made a sensational discovery. AstraZeneca would have obtained a contract from the European Union which guarantees immunity to the pharmaceutical company for any damage caused to patients by the administration of the vaccine.

In return, the company would have guaranteed a lower price for the drug. On the other hand, the French manufacturer Sanofi, having charged a higher price, has not obtained any immunity.

Out of the box: immunity for AstraZeneca and the end of the pandemic

The European Parliament has asked for a confrontation with the manufacturing companies. None of the spokespersons of the pharmaceutical companies and the European Commission wanted to release specifications on the agreements made.

Vincenzo Sofo said: “One of the companies didn’t even show up for our audition. We have not had clear answers on the existence of these disclaimer clauses ».

The newspaper Financial Time made a sensational scoop. In a contract between AstraZeneca and a Brazilian public body, 1 July 2021 is indicated as the end date of the pandemic.

How is it possible that the pharmaceutical company has this information? Simply because it does not indicate the end of the real emergency but the date beyond which you can sell vaccines at the price you want.

The prestigious British newspaper has pointed the finger at the lack of transparency behind these secret vaccine contracts. In fact, producers keep the terms confidential, offering little room for control.

Manuel Martin, Medical Access and Innovation Policy Advisor at Doctors Without Borders, said they gave AstraZeneca “An unacceptable level of control over a vaccine developed with public funds”.

MEP Vincenzo Sofo also concluded the service of Out of the core with the request of “To be clear and transparent with European citizens because their health is at stake”.
