Asteroid Phaethon approaches Earth 2028, scientists prepare it!

Asteroid Phaethon approaches Earth in 2028 according to his predictions. The Pantheon approaching Earth 2028 is quite cautious due to the asteroid having an oddity. One of the peculiarities of this asteroid is its changing rotation.

Minor planets or asteroids are celestial bodies of varying sizes, but generally larger than meteorites. They often pass close to the Earth.

Basically, the existence of an asteroid is not dangerous if it is at a safe distance from Earth. However, is the approaching asteroid Phaethon safe?

Asteroid Phaethon Approaches Earth 2028, Here’s What Will Happen!

Some time ago space scientists carried out a mission to launch a rocket against an asteroid in order to change its trajectory that threatens the Earth, now a new prediction has emerged.

Scientists have discovered the presence of the asteroid Phaethon which appears to be approaching Earth.

In light of this, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency intends to launch a mission called DESTINY + on the asteroid Phaethon. They plan to launch the mission in 2024.

I sent DESTINY + asteroid Phaethon

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will launch the DESTINY + mission to take a closer look at the asteroid Phaethon.

The spacecraft on this mission will later fly close to the space rock to intensively study potentially dangerous objects or PHOs.

The asteroid Phaethon itself is found to have a quirk. This is because this asteroid appears to have a period change. As such, astronomers are eager to know what happened to this asteroid.

Predictions that asteroid Phaethon will approach Earth in 2028 will be the 11th asteroid to show a change in its rotation period.

Not only that, the asteroid Phaethon is also the largest of the space rocks with an average of 5.4 kilometers.

Is it dangerous for the Earth?

For now, the asteroid Phaethon has shown no signs of damage to the Earth because it is still far enough away.

However, changing their rotation period can be very dangerous. Because changes in the rotation of the asteroid itself are a very rare thing.

This asteroid is indeed a dangerous object, but it is currently not a threat to Earth.

Sean Marshall, a planetary scientist at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, used observational data and evidence from 1989 to 2021 to create a model of Phaethon’s shape.

He did this to prepare for the DESTINY + mission. Marshall claimed that his predictions and models of him did not fit the data.

He then added that it could be that Phaeton had comet-like activity when the object was near perihelion (the closest point in its orbit to the Sun) last December 2020.

With the more complete model, it turns out that this data includes constant rotational acceleration. That is, a smooth decrease in the Phaethon rotation period, which is 4 milliseconds per year and is considered stable.

This is good news for the DESTINY + team as the constant change means that Phaethon’s orientation as the plane flies around it will be more accurate. So that we can later find out if the asteroid Phaethon approaching Earth in 2028 will threaten or not. (R10 / HR-Online)
