Assault in a gas pump in Gilly: the manager and a customer beaten up, three men arrested

Three men were arrested on Saturday morning for assault and battery on two others in a petrol pump located on the Chaussée des Fleurus in Gilly, near Charleroi, the city’s public prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. The three suspects will be presented to the examining magistrate in the next few hours. One of the men, without a mask, was refused entry to the gas station.

The manager refused entry to a customer because he was not wearing a mask, which caused a first verbal altercation between the two men. The client then left the scene before returning moments later with a mask. In the meantime, a second customer was waiting to pay for his fill at the cash register. The first grew impatient and a second altercation broke out between them. Two people then joined the suspect and the victim was beaten several times. The manager tried to intervene, but the three men also hit him. The police intervened and arrested the three attackers. They will be presented to the investigating judge in the next few hours, said the Charleroi prosecutor’s office.
