Assassin’s Creed Valhalla director jumps over to EA

Eric Baptizat has changed pastures from Ubisoft to EA Motive, after 16 years in the company. The transition should have happened already in April, according to Axios, without it having been known until now.

Neither EA, Ubisoft nor Baptizat have commented on the transition.

Baptizat has most recently worked as a game director for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and also held prominent positions on the development teams of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins.

EA Motive last launched Star Wars Squadrons in 2020, and at the moment it is rumored that they are working to revive the Dead Space series. Rumor has it that we will see the game already during EA Play in July.

Great success for Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was a critical and sales success for Ubisoft, and provided the best sales figures for the Assassin’s Creed series since 2012, and the best quarter for Ubisoft ever.

Spring reviewer also liked the viking adventure well, although he pointed out that the game has a slightly woolly beginning.

– Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a massive game which, after a rather lazy first impression, builds up to become a really engaging adventure. Here it goes in extensive treasure hunts, real Viking expeditions and exciting clashes around the huge world, and everything is mostly very high quality, wrote our reviewer about the game.
