The Hague – An Asian tiger mosquito was found in the municipality of Katwijk. An attentive resident of that municipality sent the mosquito to the Dutch Food and Consumer Products Safety Authority (NVWA), which confirmed it was the Asian tiger mosquito. “These animals are not found naturally in the Netherlands,” says a spokesperson for GGD Hollands Midden.
