On the morning of this Tuesday, April 12, the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, announced the epidemiological situation in the country and announced that the cases of Covid-19 have decreased
According to Garzón, in week 14, 1,395 cases were registered and of these, only 302 required medical attention.
“In the last week we have barely one deceased by Covid-19,” he assured.
In addition, he emphasized that in Ecuador there have been no outbreaks.
Mask
The Minister called on citizens to get the vaccine and continue using the mask indoors, public spaces and especially in public transport
“In the coming weeks we will give more positive news,” he said.
Vaccination card
Garzón pointed out that as of Monday, April 18, the vaccination card with the third dose will be requested for entry to commercial establishments and non-essential activities.
“We have come today to request an update of the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health for the presentation of the vaccination card, which must already have a third dose,” he assured.
And he added “all people of all ages who already have five months of the second dose must already have their third dose which must be registered in the vaccination card and that updated card will be required (…) from Monday that comes”.
According to Garzón, five and a half million Ecuadorians already have the third dose of the vaccine.

capacity
For his part, Juan Zapata, president of the National COE, announced that there will be no restrictive mobility measures on the Easter holiday and that the resolution to eliminate capacity is ratified.
“On May 3 we will have the COE session and we will analyze the issue of the mask in open spaces, whether public or private,” he said.
