DARA | CIANJUR – A total of 45 residents of Cilumping Village RT01 / 02, Sukamulya Village, Warungkondang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java contracted Chikungunya disease caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Head of Sukamulya Village, Iman Nurjaman, said the number of residents who contracted the chikungunya disease was 45 people who were in one RW.

“The incident has been going on for almost two weeks. A total of 45 residents experienced chikungunya disease caused by mosquito bites, “said Iman, when he was met in Sukamulya Village, Friday (14/8/2020).

Iman suspects that the disease outbreak is due to weather conditions and the low level of awareness of residents in maintaining environmental health.

Dozens of residents who were infected, said Iman, initially experienced complaints of high fever, body on the weak legs, and joints ached so they could not stand.

“People who are infected with chikungunya generally seek outpatient treatment and rest at their respective homes, and most of their conditions have improved,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Warungkondang Community Health Center, Dr. Cecep Willy Budiman, revealed that the chikungunya case which infected dozens of residents was categorized as an extraordinary incident (KLB).

“This is an outbreak, because in June there were no findings of cases (Chikungunya) and from July to August there were 45 cases,” said Willy.

Willy said, his staff together with the Warungkondang sub-district leadership communication forum (Forkopimcam) have made efforts to deal with it by providing care for patients and also stirring up the movement for clean and healthy living habits for the community. ***
