As many as 13,150 residents of North Sumatra suffer from HIV/AIDS, the most are men

jpnn.com, NORTH SUMATRA – The Regional AIDS Commission (KPAD) of North Sumatra recorded that there were 13,150 residents who were living with HIV/AIDS.

The data is dominated by the age group 19-49 years with a total of 11,627 people or 92 percent of all HIV/AIDS sufferers in North Sumatra.

“Now North Sumatra is in fifth position with the most HIV/AIDS sufferers in Indonesia,” said North Sumatra KPAD Chair Ikrimah Hamidy, Thursday (2/12).

Ikrimah said from the overall data, HIV/AIDS was mostly suffered by men, which was around 9,497 people, while women were around 3,096 people.

“Most of the sufferers come from men who have money and high mobility,” said Ikrimah.

In response to this, the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, said that he would soon establish a Regional Action Plan (RAD) for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in North Sumatra.

So that the region has a reference for technical activities in the prevention and prevention of HIV/AIDS in North Sumatra.

According to him, the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS requires concrete and measurable steps.

The Regional AIDS Commission (KPAD) of North Sumatra noted that there were 13,150 residents in the area who were living with HIV/AIDS.
