FLYRussia poses no nuclear threat to anyone, but urges the West to refrain from interfering in the Russian military offensive in Ukraine. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Ryabkov.

In a video speech at a conference on the 60th anniversary of the Cuban missile crisis, Ryabkov said Moscow noticed Washington’s painful reaction to Russia putting its nuclear arsenal on full combat alert in February.

“We have made it clear that we do not threaten anyone with nuclear weapons,” Ryabkov said, referring to the Russian military doctrine, which regulates the use of nuclear weapons for self-defense when there is an existential threat to the state. Russia todaySaturday (24/9/2022).

At the same time, Ryabkov said, Russia warned the West that there was a risk of their interference in Ukraine and strongly urged the United States (US) to avoid a situation that could lead to a direct military confrontation with the Russia.

Ryabkov also accused Washington of deliberately lowering the nuclear threshold and implementing a destabilization program to modernize its nuclear potential.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the country’s ground units equipped with ICBMs, as well as ships in the North and Pacific fleets, to be on maximum alert. He attributed the decision to illegal sanctions against Moscow and aggressive statements by US and EU officials. In turn, the White House accused Putin of making non-existent threats to justify further aggression.

On Wednesday, Putin announced the partial mobilization of reservists and said the country was now fighting the entire Western military machine in Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden condemned the Russian leader’s remarks. In the UN General Assembly speech – which was quickly rewritten after Putin’s speech, according to Politico – the American leader accused his Russian counterpart of making irresponsible nuclear threats to the use of nuclear weapons.
