Excel it can be a ready-made canvas for artwork, especially if it is pixel art. This time, a creative fan of the Pokémon saga decided to capture his favorite memories and recreate the sprites of the first creatures in an Excel spreadsheet.
We must remember that the first generation of Pokémon has 151 quite original copies. The first time they were revealed to the world was for the games of Game Boy released in Japan (green and red), but the sprites that arrived in America were very different and somewhat more stylized.
There was a two-year difference between the releases in Japan and the United States. Despite this, the artist in question – who calls himself Gexuality – has taken as a basis the sprites of the third generation, although only (and for the moment) 151 pokémon de Kanto.
Gexuality shared a preview of her work on the subreddit Pokémon and this one was so well received that it quickly was filled with hundreds of comments. Many were amazed at the creative way of using a tool designed primarily for office work.
“I am creating a series of videos in which I draw all the 151 original pokémon using the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet ”, said the creator in a video of TikTok reraised. He also confessed that his favorite is Charizard, and it is from this one who shared a video.
“I like to use Excel because it’s not thinking like an art show at all. I was very proud when I discovered that I could use it that way, “he added.
The original publication already has almost 20,000 positive votes. In the thread, Gexuality has shared more designs – such as Venasaur’s – and they have already suggested that he continue his series for other generations.
