Arsenal to sell Bernd Leno to Fulham

Jakarta

Arsenal finally let go Bernd Leno. Former number one goalkeeper The Gunners that is sold to Fulham with a total transaction value of 8 million pounds.

Bernd Leno has only been an option in the Arsenal goalkeeper position since the last season. He has lost to Aaron Ramsdale since the 2021/2022 season, making only eight appearances in all competitions.

His position is increasingly cornered after Arsenal signed another goalkeeper this summer, namely Matt Turner. Turner, who is a goalkeeper for the United States national team, was recruited for a fee of 5.75 million pounds to bring competition to Ramsdale.

With an increasingly difficult position, Leno finally accepted Fulham’s proposal. He signed a three-year contract, in a transfer that cost eight million pounds.

This value is almost only a third of what Arsenal cost when they bought it from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018. Arsenal at that time bought 22.5 million pounds.

Fulham split Bernd Leno’s payout. The Cottagers put in a down payment of three million pounds. Then a million pounds depending on Leno’s appearances, two million pounds if he manages to escape relegation this season, and another two million if he survives the second season.

The Championship champions tied Leno to a three-year contract, plus another year’s extension option.

“It feels amazing to finally be here. I can’t wait to join the team, to train and play with the team,” said Leno. FFCtv reported Sky Sports.

“I’m relieved it’s all over. I just feel happy to be here. It took time, but in the end we managed to make it happen, and that’s the most important thing,” continued the 30-year-old goalkeeper.

Leno made a total of 125 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions. He kept 37 clean sheets and conceded 145 times.
