Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and striker Bukayo Saka remain both grounded even after very favorable developments for their side on Saturday. The Premier League leader has extended his lead over number two Manchester City to a staggering seven points.
“This difference means nothing if we make a mistake ourselves. We have to improve,” said Arteta BBC register later the 2-4 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion. A few hours earlier, Manchester City had gone no further than a 1-1 draw against Everton.
“Obviously we got that result. But the biggest boost we got was that we won ourselves with good play. We had to go to the limit against very strong Brighton.”
However, Arteta thinks Arsenal are far from there, he said at a press conference. “There’s still a lot of room for progress, especially when you look at the things that went wrong in defense tonight. I feel the greatest satisfaction when I hear the players in the locker room discussing the things that didn’t go well. It means they know they can do even better”.

Saka had “blind-signed” for the current starting position
Saka, who opened the scoring after 66 seconds, realizes it is still too early for euphoria. “We’re in great form, but we’re not actually working on it. We’re already focusing on Tuesday’s match against Newcastle United. It’s necessary, because Newcastle are playing excellently.”
According to Saka, it is “amazing” when you compare the current Arsenal with the volatile team at the start of last season. At the time, the Londoners were 12 points behind Manchester City at the same stage of the competition. “Obviously we would have blindly signed for this before the season.”
