London – Thanks to three goals in the first half, Arsenal’s players beat Tottenham 3:2 in the North London derby on their field and kept the first place in the English league table. Second-placed Manchester City won 2-0 in Nottingham and are a point adrift at the top with one game to play. Fifth-placed Tottenham are seven points adrift of the Champions League spots but have played two games less than fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Arsenal took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to an own goal by Höjbjerg, who headed Saka’s corner kick into his own net. The home team responded with increased activity, which resulted in Van de Ven hitting the post and equalizing, but VAR eventually revealed a close offside. Instead, the visitors took a two-goal lead in the 27th minute when Saka headed home from the break. The English winger scored his fifteenth goal of the season and broke his personal record from last season.
Seven minutes before halftime, the guests were already leading by three goals. Again they got through from the corner, this time Havertz directed the ball into the net. The Gunners have already scored 16 goals from corner kicks this season and equaled West Bromwich’s record from the 2016/17 season.
In the second half, Tottenham reduced thanks to a huge mistake by the goalkeeper Raya, who encouraged the home defender Romero to score with a pass. Son Hung-min scored a dramatic finish in the 87th minute with a converted penalty, but Spurs failed to equalize.
Manchester City won the league for the fifth time in a row and went 19 games unbeaten in the competition. He took the lead in the 32nd minute thanks to Guardiola’s header. Coach Guardiola had to replace goalkeeper Ederson at halftime, who had shoulder problems after a collision with Boly. Ortega replaced him in the second half. In the 71st minute, Haaland secured the win for the defending champions and became the top scorer with 21 goals.
De Bruyne assisted both of the visitors’ goals. The Belgian registered more than one assist in one game for the 18th time, which no other player in Premier League history has achieved. Nottingham are without a win for the fourth time in a row and are one point clear of the relegation places with three rounds to go.
