Arrival of vaccines against COVID-19 decreased by almost 50%

(CRHoy.com) In recent weeks, several health areas have reported an important decrease and stock-out of vaccines against COVID-19 received weekly.

This shortage is due to a 46.6% decrease in the number of vaccines that have entered the country, as confirmed by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), through its press office.

In a matter of a few weeks, it went from receiving 150 thousand doses to only 80 thousand and according to the institution, the acceleration in the vaccination process made the doses run out faster.

Likewise, the CCSS clarified that the vaccine is distributed according to its income to the country. This has caused that in recent days a great lack is evident in the doses administered by each vaccination center.

“The logistics of the vaccine income is the muscle of the National Emergency Commission and the Ministry of Health; the CCSS has applied the doses according to the admission of the same ”, indicated the representatives of the Epidemiological Surveillance subarea of the CCSS.
