Arrests Made in Offenbach and Mühlheim: Family Clan Keeps Authorities Busy

Two men and a woman were arrested during apartment searches in Offenbach and Mühlheim am Main. They belong to a family clan that has been keeping the investigating authorities busy for five years.

In Offenbach and neighboring Mühlheim am Main, two apartments and business premises were searched on Wednesday. Three people against whom there were arrest warrants were arrested, the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Those arrested are therefore attributed to a large family group that has been keeping the investigating authorities busy for years.

Rammed with a pickup truck

A suspect who was arrested during the raid is said to have rammed the car of another member of the group several times with a pick-up truck in Mühlheim am Main at the beginning of May, injuring the victim.

According to investigators, the 22-year-old then raced through the city in the middle of the day while trying to escape, ignoring red lights and endangering passers-by. The accused is said to have covered the 9.6 kilometer route, which was mostly within the city area, within six minutes.

The man is said to have posed as a nursing case

A 43-year-old and a 46-year-old from Mühlheim am Main were also arrested. The couple is said to have faked the man’s need for care and thus obtained care money. They are accused of complete gang and commercial fraud to the detriment of a health insurance company in four cases.

The 43-year-old is also suspected of having traded high-quality cars together with five other relatives between the ages of 22 and 70 and of evading sales tax on the sale of the vehicles.

Investigations against around 50 relatives

The three accused belong to a clan made up of several interconnected extended families. He has been in the sights of the authorities and a special investigative group for more than five years. In this context, over 30 searches have already been carried out. Some of the family members have already been sentenced to prison.

According to the Frankfurt Attorney General’s Office, illegal transactions in the trade in expensive cars, tax evasion and fraud are among the group’s preferred business models. A total of 50 relatives have been investigated so far.
