The group, which has grown to several hundred demonstrators, was dispersed by hordes of agents and driven back to the Bezuidenhoutseweg, away from the ministry and towards the Koekamp. Police say they were pelted with heavy fireworks, smoke bombs and other objects.
Earlier in the evening, the police called on the hundreds of activists to go to the Koekamp with a loudspeaker, but they did not respond. The activists were driven away from the Bezuidenhoutseweg, where the police and Mobile Unit formed a line over the entire width of the road. A water cannon was also pulled, but later turned around again. Police calls were drowned out by the noise of the protesters, who sounded sirens and banged on pots and pans.

A few groups ran away towards Malieveld and Central Station. On the Korte Voorhout, the Mobile Unit carried out a charge against several dozen demonstrators around 8.40 pm, who threw bricks in the process. Several arrests have been made. The police previously reported that the activists were escorted to the Malieveld, which was designated by mayor Jan van Zanen for the demonstration, which had not been reported to the municipality.
The Justice Department was given additional security on Tuesday afternoon, after calls were circulated on social media to demonstrate at the building. Among other things, fences have been placed and there was already a lot of police on the move early in the evening.
