Arrest for assault camera crew PowNed

The police have arrested a 17-year-old boy from Rotterdam who is suspected of assaulting a PowNed cameraman. That was Thursday morning with a reporter from the broadcaster at the Rotterdam Emmaus College for an item about a threatened teacher and was attacked.

The cameraman was hit in the face by a student and, according to PowNed chairman Dominique Weesie, was left with a badly bruised little finger. The cameraman then filed a report.

This morning the police also reported two new arrests in the case of threatening Emmaus College and a teacher from the school. A 17-year-old boy from Amsterdam and an 18-year-old man from The Hague were arrested on suspicion of threats and incitement. Yesterday an 18-year-old woman from Rotterdam was arrested.

Cartoon

This week it was announced that a teacher from the Catholic Emmaus College is threatened and has gone into hiding for showing a cartoon of Joep Bertrams. The drawing depicts a decapitated man in a Charlie Hebdo shirt sticking out his tongue at the jihadist who just decapitated him.

The cartoon had been in the school for five years, but came back into the spotlight because of the murder of French teacher Samuel Paty.
