Arrest and Prosecution of Mother and Son for Stolen Vaccine Marketing in Tabasco

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrested and prosecuted two people, a mother and son, for the crime of concealment by receipt, for marketing vaccines that were stolen from the Tabasco Health Secretariat last September.

The FGE investigation determined that the vaccines were marketed through the Internet, so an operation was carried out to identify and locate those responsible.

In this way, elements of the Investigative Police, belonging to the Vice Prosecutor’s Office for High Impact Crimes, executed said judicial order, and the female was arrested in the Tamulté de las Barrancas neighborhood; and the male, in the Palmitas subdivision, in the Atasta neighborhood, both in Villahermosa.

A search warrant was also executed to secure samples of the product that was marketed.

On Saturday, December 10, the judicial authority issued the order of connection to proceedings, for the crime of concealment by reception, provided for and sanctioned in article 201 of the Penal Code for the State of Tabasco; also granting the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention.

The FGE did not reveal if there are more people involved or if there is a criminal gang related to the theft.

The stolen vaccines were to immunize girls and it was in September when the Tabasco Health Secretariat confirmed the theft of 11,600 doses of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine intended to immunize primary and secondary school students in the state.

The robbery occurred at the Loma de Caballo ranch, on the outskirts of Villahermosa, and they were stolen from a truck. Despite the State Police’s recovery of the unit, the vaccines were no longer in their container.

The vaccination campaign against HPV 2023 started that month, with the goal of applying 90,159 doses in health centers and schools in the 17 municipalities of the state.
