Arpinon dismissed by Nîmes

Nîmes-born Arpinon has been involved with the club in a professional capacity since 2005 – but for a two-year sojourn as Gazélec Ajaccio assistant manager – but he has reportedly lost the dressing room at the Stade des Costières with the club rooted to the foot of the table.

Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to champions Paris Saint-Germain may have been somewhat expected, but it was also Nîmes’ fourth defeat in five league games, leaving the club four points adrift of safety.

With Canal+ having secured the rights to broadcast Ligue 1 Uber Eats until the end of the season, Nîmes had the financial capacity to end Arpinon’s deal 18 months before its conclusion.

His assistant Pascal Plancque will succeed him in the dugout against AS Monaco on Sunday, and perhaps beyond, with the club yet to confirm if his interim appointment will be made permanent.
