Around 800 people gathered in a park in Bergen

Night to Saturday there was a full festival atmosphere in Nygårdsparken in Bergen. West police district informs that between 700 and 800 people were present.

Throughout the evening, there has been a steady stream of complaints about music and party noise. Occasionally there have also been reports of fighting and drunkenness.

Chaotic

The situation is confusing, and the police’s main priority is therefore to prevent damage and music from being muted.

– We can not ask 700-800 people to keep a distance of one meter, it goes without saying. People have to think about this themselves, says operations manager in the West police district Eivind Hellesund.

Public urination has been a recurring theme in the messages that have come in during the night.

– There are girls squatting and urinating in the bushes, and boys standing around, says operations manager Eivind Hellesund.

Around 02.30 a number of people have left the area, but there are still some who have gathered and the police are present.

At 03.09, the police write that everyone has left the area. Large amounts of rubbish have accumulated during the evening, and the police report that Bergen municipality has been informed.

Hyperventilation and fighting at russetreff

– There have been a lot of reports of partying and noise, Hellesund informs.

Among other things, they have sent four patrols to Straume outside Bergen, where there has been some unrest.

– One of those who have been present must have been knocked down, and the ambulance is now looking at him, Hellesund says.

The person in question is not a russ, but a random passer-by.

In addition, there is a person who is hyperventilating, probably due to high alcohol intake.

Bergen City Council chose to keep some local measures up to and including 30 May. Among other things, there are requirements for the use of face masks if it is not possible to keep a distance of one meter. A maximum of 30 people can gather outdoors.
