In March, Roby says he noticed his coffee started to taste “bad.” A few weeks later, he bought pool chemical test strips and eventually used them on tap water and coffee pot water.
The latter allegedly showed “high levels of chlorine,” prompting him to install a camera in May. In the footage, Melody allegedly pours a liquid into the pot, and Robbie decides to only pretend to drink coffee from this point on.
Both returned to the States in late July. Additional footage captured by Robbie showed Melody pouring bleach into a container and pouring it into the coffee maker.
Melody, was later arrested. Additionally, a police investigation found a liquid that “smelled like bleach” from the coffee maker and a container under her bathroom sink that smelled like bleach.
Johnson is currently in the custody of the Pima County Adult Detention Center, according to online jail records. No bond amount was listed.
Police say Robbie believes his wife wanted to kill him to “collect death benefits.” Separate charges against Melody include attempted first-degree murder, attempted assault, and adding poison or noxious substances to food or drink.
