(CNN Spanish) – The Minister of Public Works of Argentina, Gabriel Katopodis, indicated at a press conference that he will develop a work plan with his ministry and that of Health to expand and strengthen the country’s health network due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Katopodis explained that the plan is to expand the number of beds currently in the country and that is why “the construction of eight emergency hospital modules that will allow for the expansion of 560 beds for therapy and hospitalization, to prevent and treat the pandemic, have been proposed. “
These “hospital modules” will be located in the interior of the country (3) and in the urban cone (5), indicated the Minister of Health. Two hospitals that have been closed for four years in La Matanza, outside of Buenos Aires, will also reopen.
The construction of these medical centers has been authorized by President Alberto Fernández, as stated by Katopodis at the press conference, and he also said that the president asked him to “express appreciation for engineers, architects and operators who will be engaged in construction of hospitals ”.
