The Government of Guatemala reiterates its commitment to the care and protection of health, people’s property and the country’s natural resources, while thanking the brigades for their tireless work in fighting the fires. “This situation is not a coincidence, since according to information from CONRED, 80 percent of the fires have been caused, as in the case of the Agua and Tajumulco volcano, the AMSA landfill, the Laguna del Tigre National Park, in Petén, Huehuetenango, among others,” the authorities noted. To this extent, the Government rejected these acts that endanger the lives of Guatemalans, because the high pollution and particles generated by combustion have adverse effects on people’s health. “This has forced the suspension of classes in the departments of Guatemala, Escuintla and Sacatepéquez, in order to protect the community. student.
