The Association of Specialist Doctors of the Rafael Hernández de David Hospital, Chiriquí province, warned that the spaces for the care of patients with COVID-19 in that hospital are at their maximum capacity.
According to the union, in the last few weeks, 10 to 15 positive patients have been hospitalized, of which 1% require admission to an intensive care room.
Also, they denounce lack of personal protection supplies, equipment of possible spaces to attend these cases and health personnel to cover the demand for patients.

“We could enter a point of no return and have to decide which patients to give medical care to,” the doctors warned.
Given this panorama, they are demanding that the health authorities meet those needs and create short, medium and long-term strategies to maintain the acquisition of these equipment quickly and expeditiously.
The doctors also called for the creation of a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including the medical and administrative part, to coordinate critical knots resulting from the care of patients with COVID-19.
