HALL (dpa-AFX) – The failure of major sporting events in the corona crisis is likely to result in additional costs for ARD, according to Chairman Tom Buhrow. Buhrow said in an interview in the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” (Friday) when asked what would save the failure of the Olympics and the European Football Championship: “Nothing. It will be more expensive: Firstly, both major events will be rescheduled next year.” The ARD chairman, who is also the director of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), added: “Secondly, we already had costs for the preparations this year, and we now have to pound around 200 hours of a replacement program.”
Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, public and private TV stations in Germany have had to change their planned program in many cases. Interruption of filming of film projects due to the corona restrictions was also a problem for the broadcasters. / Rin / DP / nas
